Being an executor is
like having a second job.

Serving as a personal representative (executor) of an estate can be overwhelming, especially during emotionally charged times. Managing the complexities of collecting and distributing assets is often confusing and time-consuming, sometimes taking months or even years. While many choose an adult child or family member for this role, this may not always be the best choice (if it’s even one at all).

Regardless of your situation, please know that you have another option. Our team at Scout Advocacy can serve as your personal representative. Or, if you’ve already been named as a personal representative, we can step in and take over from here.

We handle every detail to make sure wishes are honored, whether they’re yours or a loved one’s.

Services can include:

R

probate administration

R

asset management & distribution

R

inventory appraisal

R

addressing legal issues

R

debt settlement and tax filing

R

communication with beneficiaries

What brings you here today?

No matter where you are in your journey, we’d be honored to help.

I am in need of a personal representative for myself.

If you don’t want to burden your family with the responsibility of managing your affairs, we’re here to ensure your wishes are carried out smoothly with care.

I have been named a personal representative.

Being named as a personal representative can be daunting. If you are looking for a trusted professional to take over this role, we are here to help.

I have a client who needs a personal representative.

When your clients need a personal representative, you can count on us to step in and handle their estate with equal parts professionalism and empathy.

A little about us:

At Scout Advocacy, we know how tough it can be to take on the role of an executor or to find the right personal representative. We’d like to help. Our team brings over 70 years of combined experience in law, healthcare, and estate management, blending practical know-how with a commitment to serve your family as well as we’d want someone to serve ours.

So whether you’re making arrangements for your own affairs or you’re in the weeds of managing those of a loved one, please reach out. This isn’t something you should have to figure out on your own.

I’ve watched Ken and Sara build Scout Advocacy from the ground up over the past decade while working with them on behalf of more than a dozen mutual clients. They and their team are true professionals who care deeply about their clients’ well-being and have the experience and expertise to effectively advocate on their behalf. I’ve seen them go toe to toe with nursing homes, Medicaid and relatives with selfish motives to protect their clients and help them thrive. If I ever need someone to look after my health and financial needs when I no longer can – from the big picture to the smallest detail – and don’t have a capable trusted family member or friend to turn to, I would choose Ken, Sara, and their team without hesitation.

Move forward with assurance.

When everything is in order, we wrap up the estate with clear final steps and then provide a summary of the completed tasks to your family. Our work isn’t done until you and your loved ones are certain everything has been handled as it should have been.

We’d love to know you.

You might still be wondering…

How much do your personal representative services cost?

Scout Advocacy works with estates on an hourly basis, and our fees are deducted prior to settling an estate, so there isn’t an out-of-pocket cost to the heirs.

How can I trust that you'll do what my loved one or I would want?

We are proud of our 70 years of experience in this business and the hundreds of satisfied families we serve. We are committed to understanding your wishes when we are named as personal representative, and we will check in by phone or in person annually to see if any circumstances have changed.

How do you handle input from family members?

In the emotional time surrounding the death of a loved one, it’s not unusual to have some struggles with family members. One advantage to naming Scout as personal representative is that we are able to navigate these conflicts with empathy and neutrality.

What if this is a very complicated estate?

The more complicated the estate, the more you need a professional personal representative! We have a staff who has worked through nearly every scenario you can imagine, and that knowledge is invaluable when faced with complicated estates. We are often able to save money and time by checking assets and other details that might be overlooked.

Do you go as far as to clean out homes and properties?

We can! If an estate requires a property to be cleaned out prior to sale, we work with a network of businesses who can provide that service.

What if Scout Advocacy changes before I die?

It is important to us that Scout Advocacy outlives our three founding partners, and we are continuously raising up leaders within our business who will maintain the same dedication to our clients that we have.

Death is difficult enough.

It’s taken us years of professional training and experience to navigate estate administration with ease. We feel for families who step into the process unaware of what they’ll be up against—paperwork, phone calls, legal hurdles, not to mention the emotional strain of ensuring every detail is handled correctly.

We’re so pleased when families choose to share the responsibility with us. When you work with our team, we take on the heavy lifting so you and your family can focus on what truly matters: supporting each other during a difficult time.
